EZ View Mast System - Operator visibility is a key to productive forklift operations. The newly designed EZview mast and low-profile dash display gives an unrestricted view of the fork tips and surroundings. In the rear of the AX50, the upper corner of the counterweight angles sharply to give optimum visibility when moving in reverse. |
Angled Exhaust Ports - Hot engine air and exhaust gases are tiring to the operator. On the AX50, angled ports aim hot engine air away from the operator while traveling in reverse. Exhaust vents located low on the counterweight keep exhaust gases away from the operator and also away from the floor to avoid stirring up dust. |
KOPS Plus Komatsu Operator Presence System - KOPS Plus – standard on the AX50 – locks out lift, lower, tilt and traveling functions when the operator leaves the seat for more than three seconds. They do not resume until the operator returns to the seat and resets the controls. A flashing yellow warning light alerts the operator when the KOPS lock is activated. In addition, the forks cannot be lowered while the key is in the off position. |
Fully Hydostatic Power Steering - The AX50 Fully Hydrostatic Power Steering system reduces operator fatigue by eliminating kickback and allowing easy steering, even while the forklift is stationary. A small-diameter steering wheel improves operator feel and control. |

KOPS Plus Komatsu Operator Presence System - KOPS Plus – standard on the BX50 – locks out lift, lower, tilt and traveling functions when the operator leaves the seat for more than three seconds. They do not resume until the operator returns to the seat and resets the controls. A flashing yellow warning light alerts the operator when the KOPS lock is activated. In addition, the forks cannot be lowered while the key is in the off position. |
EZ View Mast System - With the excellent visibility window on the EZview mast, the BX50 operator has an unrestricted view of the fork tips and surroundings. Towards the front, the newly designed EZview mast, console and low-profile dash give maximum visibility. To the rear, the upper corners of the counterweight are angled for clear sightlines in reverse. |
Angled Exhaust Ports - Hot engine air and exhaust gases are tiring to the operator. On the BX50, angled ports aim hot engine air away from the operator while traveling in reverse. Exhaust vents located low on the counterweight keep exhaust gases away from the operator and also away from the floor to avoid stirring up dust. |
High Efficiency Drive Train - The high torque delivered by the BX50’s powerful K21 and K25 engines is channeled through a new transmission designed and manufactured by Komatsu. This rugged new drive train features an aluminum alloy transmission case for improved heat dissipation, a high-capacity oil cooler or torque converter, and O-ring face seals to greatly reduce the possibility of leaks. Komatsu’s extensive experience with demanding construction machinery applications led to a highly reliable, highly dust-resistant, double-seal universal joint design in the full floating BX50 drive train. |

Full Suspension Seat - The full suspension seat provides improved operator comfort. The deluxe seat features improved vibration resistance and reduced stress on the body. This seat features six-step reclining backrest, 6.7” slide distance backward and forward, seat cushion adjustable dial and a retractable seat belt. |
Durable Wet Disc Brakes - The wet disc brake system is sealed with oil to block dust penetration, providing durable, water resistant and fade resistant characteristics. Smooth, stable braking provides productivity and reliability in demanding operations. The oil in a wet disc brake system is circulated through the brake oil cooler. This mechanism ensures stable braking under a heavy work load and prevents deterioration of the braking force that could be caused by raised oil temperatures. Komatsu’s unique cushioning valve enables controlled braking force that precisely reflects the pressure on the brake pedal. |
Secure Operator Controls - The secure lever controls with minimum movement using fingertip operator for the F/R lever. The control levers feature contoured knobs for ease of control. A smaller steering wheel permits widened forward visibility along with the redesigned dashboard for complete fork tip visibility. Komatsu’s unique cushioning valve enables control of the braking force in proportion to the pressure on the brake pedal and improves the braking feel. |

They do not resume until the operator returns to the seat and resets the controls. A flashing yellow warning light alerts the operator when the KOPS lock is activated. Komatus Unique OLMS Hydraulic System - The OLMS Hydraulic System contributes to lower fuel consumption. As engine speeds change, the engine RPM sensing control pump detects engine revs and then controls the oil feed to reduce the load on the engine. This unique hydraulic system offers optimized balance of traveling and loading work while delivering increased hydraulic efficiencies in the most demanding applications. |
First Class Cycle Time - The DX50 series utilizes a technologically advanced, compact 3.3-liter engine in conjunction with Komatsu’s advanced OLMS hydraulic system. This advanced design achieves high productivity and first class cycle times. |

Highly Rigid Frame - A highly rigid frame enhances truck durability and load handling performance. Use of a main frame structure that consists of a single piece of thick plate steel provides high rigidity against twisting caused by static steering, turning, or uneven surfaces resulting in excellent truck durability and load-handling performance. |
Wet Disc Brake System - The EX50 features a standard wet disc brake system that offers improved durability and performance over a traditional drum brake. Due to its dustproof and waterproof enclosed design, the wet disc brake system can deliver high durability, resulting in reduced maintenance costs over time. Regardless of your working conditions, the wet disc brake system can have a positive impact on overall operating costs. |
Heavy Duty HPCR System - High pressure compressed fuel is stored in an accumulator chamber called a common rail. The fuel is injected into each cylinder at the proper time by an ECU (electronic controlled unit). This high pressure compression rail system optimizes fuel burn and greatly reduces fuel consumption. |
Enhanced Operator Visability - Operational visibility is greatly enhanced through improvements of the shape of the top of the counterweight and through an increased distance between the inner mast rails. Rearward visibility has been improved through a downward angle to the top edge of the counterweight. Also, forward visibility has been improved by repositioning the lift chains to the outside rail. |

Reduced Roll Back - With HST drive, the oil flow to the hydraulic motor is stopped when the accelerator pedal is released, so even if the forklift is stopped on a ramp and the operator releases the brake pedal, downhill creep is reduced. This also facilitates easier ramp-start. |
Low Exhaust Emissions Engine - Komatsu’s turbo-charged 4-cycle diesel engine is Interim Tier 4 and EU Stage A emissions certified, without sacrificing power or productivity. The engine is connected to the drive system hydraulically to transmit power to the drive system. This makes it possible for the FH series to make directional shifts smoothly without the need to release the accelerator pedal. |
CLSS with Variable Displacement Pump - Komatsu’s CLSS hydraulic system has been utilized in our hydraulic excavators for many years. The load sensing capability automatically senses loading and the variable displacement pump then supplies only the amount of hydraulic fluid needed to do the job. This provides for much greater efficiency than conventional fixed displacement gear pumps, making good use of engine power to reduce overall fuel consumption. |
Controllability and Operation - The FH series requires less inching pedal use because the HST forklift can adjust speed through the use of the accelerator pedal. Also with excellent controllability of the HST, the operator has better control when maneuvering in tight quarters, lifting, or load handling. Travel speeds can be set in for stages and activated with the turtle switch. To eliminate inadvertent start-ups, the FH engine can only start when the shift lever is set to neutral, brake pedal depressed and the operator is in the seat. |
